Kevin Pinder is a senior studying Earth & Atmospheric Sciences with interests in meteorology. He is currently a National Weather Service Student Volunteer for Peachtree City, Georgia’s Weather Forecasting Office where he receives training in operational meteorology, helps launch weather balloons and performs research on the 2021 flash flooding event in Waverly, Tennessee. His goal is to be a full-time employee for the National Weather Service and provide critical weather warnings to protect people and their property. This past summer, Kevin interned at WSAV in Savannah, Georgia with the Storm Team 3 meteorologists as well as worked with Dr. Handlos to help administer a weather camp to middle and high school students at Georgia Tech. Kevin worked under Dr. Huey during the Fall of 2022 as a Teacher’s Assistant for Physics of the Weather. His other involvements on campus included being a section leader for the drumline in 2021, principal player for the Symphonic Band percussion section, treasurer for SGE and member in StORM club. Kevin’s main hobbies include weather forecasting, watching sports, playing video games, and going to the beach! He plans to return to Georgia Tech as a graduate student next fall.
