
Ashley Zheng is a 4th year Environmental Science major with a Sustainable Cities minor. She is interested in the intersection of sustainable development and strategy, and loves learning about topics such as biodiversity, the energy transition, and resilience in this context. Currently, Ashley is part of the Sustainable Development in Puerto Rico capstone course, where she maps social and physical vulnerability hotspots for disaster resilience planning. She is also in an Environmental Field Methods capstone, where she studies oysters and applies biostatistics methods to determine trends of microplastic accumulation within them. In the past, Ashley interned at National Grid in Brooklyn, New York, driving their sustainability strategy to advance metric assurance initiatives. She has been a part of both industry and academic labs at Alcon, SEPL, and SEEEL. Outside of classes, Ashley enjoyed being a 2023-2024 Sustainability Fellow, and now she participates in intramural sports, the Energy Club, and SOS. She also likes pottery, baking, spending time outside, and visiting local coffee shops.
